15 October 15:40 Middle East Technical University Institute of Applied Mathematics Seminars Alexandre Popier Department of Mathematics, Le Mans University In this talk, we first motivate the use of singular terminal conditions: final trace of the solution of some semilinear PDEs or optimal control problems with constraints. Then we present some results concerning the existence of minimal supersolutions for a wide class of generators. Finally, we explain how the continuity problem (continuity of the solution at the terminal time) can be solved in som...Detay » Probability Theory | English ume 07.10.2019_14:17

16 October 10:40 Bilkent University Algebra Seminars Matthew Gelvin Bilkent University Every finite-dimensional algebra over an infinite field has a basis consisting of units. If the algebra is interior for a finite p-group D, we say that it is a bipermutation D-algebra if there is a basis that is invariant under left and right D-multiplication. Such a basis may be viewed as a (D, D)-biset, and if the basis can be chosen to consist of units, it (almost) determines a saturated fusion...Detay » Algebra | English botan 11.10.2019_22:06

16 October 13:30 Boğaziçi University Mathematics Colloquium José Luis Cisneros-Molina Mathematics Institute, UNAM Let G be a discrete group. It is well known that the homology groups of G have both algebraic and topological definitions. Now consider a subgroup H of G. In the literature there are two versions of relative homology groups for the pair (G,H), the theory by Adamson generalizes in a natural way the algebraic definition, while the theory by Takasu generalizes in a natural way the topological definit...Detay » Algebraic Topology | English botan 13.10.2019_17:16

16 October 13:40 Sabancı University Algebra Seminars Burçin Güneş Sabancı University We study the automorphisms of a function field of genus g ≥ 2 over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic p. More precisely, we show that the order of a nilpotent subgroup G of its automorphism group is bounded by 16(g − 1) when G is not a p-group. We show that if |G| = 16(g − 1), then g − 1 is a power of 2. Furthermore, we provide an infinite family of function fiel...Detay » Algebra | English sena 14.10.2019_12:36

Research School CIMPA-WAMS - CIMPA-West Asia Mathematical School (WAMS) : Mathematics and their interactions Tarihler 27.10.2019 - 03.11.2019 Yer Nesin Mathematics Village, Izmir Alan Mathematics Konular The modeling field, ranging from theoretical approaches to concrete developments (modeling and numerical simulations). The implementation and development of numerical approximation methods requires, first and foremost, a good knowledge of mathematical equations (differential equations, partial differential equations) but also the phenomena they account for. Özet We are pleased to announce that the registration of the ''CIMPA-West Asia Mathematical School (WAMS) : Mathematics and their interactions'' has been opened. West Asia Mathematical School will take place from October, 27th to November 3rd at the Mathematics Village, Şirince-İzmir, Turkey. The objective of this school is to offer a fairly complete courses in the modeling field, ranging from theoretical approaches to concrete developments (modeling and numerical simulations). The implementation and development of numerical approximation methods requires, first and foremost, a good knowledge of mathematical equations (differential equations, partial differential equations) but also the phenomena they account for. Finally, the efficient implementation of the associated approximation algorithms can not be conceived without an introduction to computer skills. These courses are intended for students, researchers or teaching researchers wishing to acquire an introduction to modern training in the field of mathematics and their applications.
