Synchrony in Power Grids and Beyond

Özet : The dynamical stability of the synchronous regime in power grids became a focus of research in recent years. With a decentralised and renewable energy supply, the multistability of the system becomes even more apparent, giving rise to various spatiotemporal patterns like synchronization clusters, chimera states or solitary oscillations. This is also due to the special nature of the oscillators' interaction, e.g. different levels of energy losses of power transmission drastically alter the sync basin. In this talk, I present recent results and discuss different research directions in the complex systems approach to power grids, i.e. stability w.r.t. large perturbations, time delays and distributed control.
