Colloidal Systems: A word of particles suspending in a media

Özet : Colloidal systems are composed of particles, with sizes ranging from few micrometers down to nanometers, suspending mainly in a liquid media. The studies in our research group start with the synthesis of colloidal particles, and continues with their dispersion in liquids, their rheological behavior, till their end use as advanced, functional or smart materials. The functionality of particles stem from their intrinsic and/or geometric properties. When they are used in a liquid media as an intermediate or an end product, then, the collective behavior of these particles become critical in order to take full advantage of their functional properties. In this presentation, I will talk about how forces at different scales have an influence in materials, particularly in colloidal materials and systems.
