Manifolds of positive scalar curvature

Özet : Curvature is a basic notion in differential geometry, because it measures the deviation from flat, Euclidean space. This talk deals with scalar curvature, which can be defined by the volume growth of small balls in Riemannian manifolds. We give an overview of some old and new results concerning Riemannian metrics with everywhere positive scalar curvature, combining techniques from global analysis, topology, and general relativity.
