  Details   Queen Mary University of London seeks to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to participate in the EPSRC-funded project “Challenges of Applied Algebraic Topology’’. The research will be undertaken under the supervision of Professor Michael Farber. The project studies probabilistic models of large random spaces and investigates their topological and geometric properties. Such spaces can be used for modelling large systems in various practical applications. The project also tackles some other problems of topological robotics such as investigation of topology of configuration spaces of linkages and more general mechanisms. Salary range £32,052 - £35,672 inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan. Closing date: March 6, 2016;

  Details   Postdoc in probability at the University of Bath, UK A postdoc (research associate) position is available in the area of probability starting from 1st October 2016, or a date to be agreed. The position will be available for up to 3 years. The position is funded by the EPSRC fellowship "Mathematical analysis of strongly correlated processes on discrete dynamic structures" of Dr. Alexandre Stauffer. The area of research will be centered on the mathematical analysis of random large-scale interacting systems, such as interacting particle systems, random walks and other stochastic processes in random or dynamic environments, percolation, spin systems, and dynamically evolving graphs. The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong background in probability theory, and have a PhD in mathematics, theoretical computer science or related areas. The successful applicant will be associated with the probability laboratory (Prob-L@B) of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath. Prob-L@B is one of the world’s most vibrant probability groups, with eight permanent members, a large cohort of PhD students and postdocs, and a large number of different research activities and international visitors.   Details   We would like to announce a post-doctoral position in the Departament of Mathematics of the University of São Paulo (Brazil) within the scope of the set-theoretic aspects of Banach spaces and related structures, to work in a joint project of Christina Brech and Piotr Koszmider (IM PAN, Warsaw) who will spend 3 months each year in São Paulo during the project ( This position is for a period of 12 months, starting between April and September 2015.
Candidates interested in related fields such as applications of forcing in analysis or set-theoretic aspects of C*-algebras, or planning to develop their interests in these directions are welcome. The extended group includes Valentin Ferenczi, Eloi Medina Galego and Artur Tomita and other postdocs such as Dana Bartosova and Brice Mbombo.
The postdoc has no teaching duties and will receive a modest monthly stipend of BRL 4100,00 (tax free). It also comprehends partial travel support and BRL 4100,00 as a support for the first expenses upon arrival, besides some small amount of money for travelling. These values should be compatible with a modest life in São Paulo, for example sharing an apartment close to a trendy neighborhood or renting an individual studio in regular neighborhood close to the campus.

Postdoc Position IISER Pune Postdoctoral Research Associate

  Details   Applications are invited for Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRAs) positions at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Pune, India. These positions are open for candidates with 0-5 years of experience after the submission of their PhD thesis. Candidates should provide evidence of having carried out high quality research. Appointments will be made for a year at a time with a maximum tenure of three years.
Benefits include a monthly stipend of 40,000 INR (30,000 INR for those who have submitted their PhD thesis and have not yet been awarded a PhD), 20 house rent allowance (or housing provided by the institute) and a contingency grant of 1,00,000 INR per year that can be used for national/international travel, purchasing books, computers, etc.
PRAs can either work independently or may be associated with a specific group depending upon their research interests and infrastructural support/supervision required to carry out research.   Details   The Niels Henrik Abel Board and the International Mathematical Union invite applications from mathematicians professionally based in developing countries to visit an international research collaborator for a period of one month. The period is extendable for up to three months in the case of matching support from the host institution.
The program is designed for post doctoral mathematicians in the early stages of their professional careers.   It is designed to offer the opportunity for a ‘research sabbatical,’ a necessary complement to teaching and other academic duties for mathematicians desiring to also sustain a viable research program.
